The Lewisburg campus of Columbia State Community College is closed for the holidays from Tuesday, Dec. 25, through Tuesday, Jan. 1. Offices will re-open on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

The Marshall County offices in the Courthouse Annex, Courthouse and Hardison Office Annex will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Lewisburg City garbage will be collected as follows: Monday's garbage route will be picked up the following Thursday. Tuesday's garbage route will be picked up the following Friday.

The Chapel Hill City offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1

The Town of Chapel Hill garbage collection will be performed on Wednesday, Dec. 26, due to the Christmas holiday. On Tuesday, Jan. 1, the garbage will be picked up as usual.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities, 624 West Commerce St., will reopen at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26.

The Cornersville City Hall office will re-open at 8 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27. The office will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

The Christmas break for the Marshall County School system is Monday, Dec. 24 to Tuesday, Jan. 8. Students return to school on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

There will be a New Year's Eve singing at 6 p.m., Dec. 31, at Farmington Baptist Church, located on Nashville Hwy (Hwy 31) between Lewisburg and Chapel Hill. Several Southern gospel and bluegrass groups will be there and a chili and beef stew supper with all the fixins will be served. First Assembly of God in Lewisburg will host Financial Peace University, the 13-week program taught by Dave Ramsey, beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6. The program has helped more than 400,000 families positively change their financial future. This life-changing program teaches families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small group accountability. Maury Regional Hospital will offer a smoking cessation class beginning Jan. 8. The eight-week course will be held on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Jan. 8 through Feb. 26, in the auxiliary conference room.

Maury Regional Hospital will offer a self-care class for diabetics on how to control blood sugar from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, in the auxiliary conference room on the first floor. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is preferred, but not mandatory. The cost is $20, but each participant may bring a guest at no extra charge. The City of Lewisburg will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 28, at City Hall to discuss Community Development Block Grants.

The Marshall County JECDB Executive Committee will meet at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 2209 Courthouse Annex.

The Board of Commissioners of Marshall County will meet in special session at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, in Room 2204 of the Marshall County Courthouse Annex.

The Town of Cornersville will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at City Hall in Cornersville to amend its Urban Growth Boundary on the north side of the Lynnville Highway and the half parcels on the east side of Hwy. 31-A South. This meeting is open to the public and all citizens are welcome.

The Town of Chapel Hill Beer Board and the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold a work session at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan, 8, at the Chapel Hill Police and Fire Department, 119 N. Horton Pkwy, to discuss Ordinance No. 07-11 which allows on-premises consumption, and any other business.

The Marshall County Board of Education will have a work session at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle.
