A Lewisburg policeman is asking to be reinstated as a sergeant since his demotion after an inconclusive state investigation into what was suspected as obstruction of justice.
Officer Jackie Robertson made his request known to the Police Advisory Board on Thursday, explaining over the weekend that he had already sought reinstatement and was told to ask the board.
Robertson's demotion last fall was a result of a joint decision by City Manager Eddie Fuller, Interim Police Chief David Ray and City Attorney Bill Haywood after they consulted with District Attorney Chuck Crawford and Assistant District Attorney Eddie Barnard.
Crawford "wasn't trying to get any particular action" from city officials with regard to Robertson, the elected prosecutor said in mid November. He has his "views" about an underage drinking allegation last summer, but "it's up to them to decide what action is appropriate" based on his summary of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report.
