Through the first 25 minutes of their showdown with District frontrunner Moore County, it appeared that the Cornersville Bulldogs (6-10, 4-2 District) might knock off the Raiders and claim a share of first place in the league standings.
Moore County, however, showed over the final seven minutes why many people have picked them to advance to the State Tournament, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-5 during that span to pull out a 46-35 victory Friday in Cornersville.
Although his team turned in a gutsy effort against the Raiders, CHS coach Adrian Wilson did not want to settle for a moral victory. "Our goal this season was to win the District," Wilson said. "Our guys haven't been in many games like this and I think that probably hurt us. When we get it together I think we can knock off anyone and that teams won't want to play us in the postseason."
