The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs claimed sole possession of third place in District 11-A Friday night after rallying from a 13-point second-half deficit at home to defeat longtime nemesis Moore County 61-56 in overtime.
The Raiderettes (11-8, 3-3 District) appeared to be in complete control of the game late in the third quarter, as they held a 44-31 lead with just over two minutes left in the stanza. But the Lady Bulldogs (9-7, 4-2 District) showed their mettle down the stretch and put together an 18-5 run to send the game into overtime tied at 49-49 before outscoring Moore County 12-7 in the extra session to escape with the hard fought five-point victory.
CHS head coach Micah Landers believed that the showdown with the Raiderettes would go a long way in determining the Lady Bulldogs' seeding in the upcoming District tournament.
