Lewisburg's City Council annexed 15 acres Tuesday and about 55 new homes are planned there with an adjoining 15-acre tract along Yell Road south of Ellington Parkway.
"It will take a year to prepare the land to cut roads in," developer Jeff Poarch said Monday. "We'll have to get the engineers to draw plans and then go before the city planning commission.
"It will probably be a year to 18 months before any roads are built into that property," said Poarch who's developing the land with his partner, Cameron Coble. "We intend to develop the part facing Ellington Boulevard for commercial property. That will be the first part."
The annexation sought by Coble and Poarch was unanimously approved on a third and final vote that included zoning the 15 acres for residential purposes.
