C'ville eyes changes to urban growth

Friday, January 18, 2008

Cornersville's proposed changes to its urban growth boundary came another step closer to reality Wednesday evening.

City Administrator Taylor Brandon presented a series of maps detailing the boundary which were studied and discussed by the Marshall County Commission's Liaison Committee.

The committee is led by County Commissioner Mary Ann Neill.

The city wants to reopen the Marshall County Growth Plan and amend it to change some growth areas from county control to Cornersville jurisdiction.

There was no serious opposition to the idea, but Marshall County's existing growth plan has been sent to the State Planning Commission to be ratified at the commission meeting Jan. 23. By Feb. 1, the growth plan should be approved and back in the county.
