Tigers tame Patriots, go to 8-0
With a big showdown against archrival Giles County looming on the horizon, the Marshall County Tigers (16-2, 8-0 District) showed no signs of a letdown Tuesday, defeating the Page Patriots 62-43 on the road.
MCHS narrowly beat Page 55-53 in their first meeting on Dec. 4, but were never threatened by the Patriots this time around and led by double digits nearly the entire contest.
After building a 40-27 lead at halftime, the Tigers outscored Page 22-16 over the final two quarters to coast to the nineteen-point victory.
Marshall County head coach Jason Tigert credited their first encounter with the Patriots (3-15, 1-7 District) with keeping his team from looking past Page Tuesday night.
"We took them very seriously," said Tigert. "I think we came out a little more focused. The first time they came out and gave us a scare. Our guys realized that they are better than their record indicates."
