The Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets dropped their final home game of the season Monday night as Community's Kelsie Smith poured in 23 points and the Viqueens held off a late charge by Forrest to win, 37-25.

Forrest, 6-8 on the season has one more regular season game at MTCS before the start of the James C. Haile Middle School Tournament, also at MTCS. The Lady Rockets open the tourney on Thursday, Jan. 24, with a first-round match-up versus South Fentress at 5:30pm.

FMS fell behind early 3-0 before Candace Daughrity broke the ice on a nice jumper in the paint. Community pulled away to 6-2, but Adrean Jordan muscled one in on a rebound and a put-back to make it 6-4. Smith scored on the final play of the quarter, grabbing a rebound and going coast-to-coast for an 8-4 lead after one.

Brittni Perryman got the Lady Rockets to within three points on a free throw, but Smith Responded with a bucket to make it 10-5. The half ended with the Lady Rockets getting single points on free throws by Katie Skinner and Scarlett Roberson and trailing 12-7 after 12 minutes.
