Rockets fall to Eagleville
Eagleville and Forrest have played two close games this year, but the Rockets have come out on the short end each time, losing by two points, 46-44, at Eagleville and at home on Friday, 62-55, after leading most of the contest.
Khameron Lillard sparked an 18-10 Eagleville comeback in the fourth quarter as the Eagles took a firm grip on second place in District 9A with a 6-1 record. Forrest, losers of two straight district games, fell to 3-4 and fifth place, one game back of Cascade in the win column.
The Rockets will get a chance to pull even with the Champions from Wartrace Friday night at the Bedford County school. Forrest won an earlier game versus Cascade 63-54, and a second win would give Forrest control of fourth place.
Eagleville head coach Joey Reed and Forrest's Davy McClaran are best friends. After the battle, an exhausted Reed said, "You almost have to throw basketball strategy out the window when we play. We are best friends and know what each other will do. I was watching him and he was watching me. I think the only difference tonight was we made our free throws and they didn't."
