Wounded Tigerettes scratch and claw to end

Austyn Whaley takes no prisoners on the way to the bucket for the Tigerettes.
Only nine players got off the bus from Lewisburg for the LMS Tigerettes to play in the first-round of the Southern Middle Tennessee Conference Tournament Tuesday night at E.A. Cox versus the top seeded and unbeaten E.O. Coffman Lady Panthers.

Head Coach Shonda Sparrow knew it would be an almost impossible task to beat the regular season champs with three players out and one of her starters ill.

The Tigerettes, winners of three straight games, found themselves in the hole early in the contest as the well disciplined and talented Lady Panthers worked their offense and used the Tigerettes' inexperience against them.

Emily Williams scored her third consecutive bucket on a 10-0 Coffman run, just minutes into the first quarter before Austyn Whaley got LMS on the board, nailing one of two free throws. The only other points scored by the Tigerettes in the quarter were on a jumper by Mary Medley. LMS was down by 11, 13-3 at the end of the period.
