Forrest Ward, Jr.
Mr. Forrest Ward Jr., 62, of Mariposa, Calif., died surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Ward was a native of Pulaski. He attended Marshall County High School and went to California in 1964, where he served five years in the Air Force and achieved the rank of sergeant. He worked as a salesman for the Merced Tobacco Company and then joined the California Highway Patrol, becoming a senior officer before his retirement in 2000. After retirement he provided security for the Delaware North Co. in Yosemite Valley in the summer and traveled with his wife in the winter, returning several times to Tennessee.
He is survived by his parents, Forrest and Ruth Ward, and brother, Gary Ward, all of Lewisburg; wife, Judy Lynne Phillips Ward, and son, Steven F. (Tina) Ward, all of Mariposa; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Ward was cremated.
A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church, 323 Second Ave. North, Lewisburg, on Sunday, Feb. 10.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ministry Center Fund of First Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
