The Tennessee Elks held the Middle Tennessee District Hoop Shoot shoot off in January at New Prospect School.

Devan Hasty came in first place in the 12- to 13-year-old girls category and also received the trophy for getting the most hoops for girls ages 8 to 13. Ashley Umbles came in second after having been tied for first place in the 10- to 11-year-old girls category.

Tate Lowery came in second place in the 10- to 11-year-old boys category. Chelsey Umbles, Tyler Lowery and Ben Taylor all came in fourth place in their respective groups.

The girls and boys were shooting against seven other districts, including Nashville, Fayetteville, Columbia, Pulaski, Lawrenceburg, Gallatin and Cumberland County.

Devan Hasty will be going to Franklin to shoot for the state championship against three other districts on Feb. 16. If she wins there, she will go to the finals in Springfield, Mass.

"I would like to thank all the parents and kids for their help," said coordinator Kenneth Walker. "It could not have been done without your help."
