Having already clinched the top seed for the upcoming District 10-AA tournament, the Marshall County Tigers won the regular season District title outright this past Tuesday when they defeated an athletic Spring Hill squad 64-46 at home on Senior Night.
With the victory over the Raiders, the Tigers finished a game ahead of second place Giles County and ended the Bobcats' five-year reign as regular season District champs.
After Marshall County (21-4, 13-1 District) narrowly defeated Spring Hill 64-62 in their first encounter on Jan. 11, it appeared Tuesday's contest would also go down to the wire, as MCHS held a tenuous five-point advantage late in the third quarter. The Tigers, though, kept their composure down the stretch and outscored the Raiders 27-14 over the final 10 minutes for victory.
