Cornersville City Hall's meeting area was filled to capacity well before the advertised start time of the meeting of the board of mayor and aldermen.
On the agenda was a change to the speed limits on the approaches to town.
Town Adminstrator Taylor Brandon said they have had a "steady stream of complaints" since they lowered the speed limits at the south end, so a motion was approved to change these and also to allow 45 mph on the Lynnville Hill where it comes in to Cornersville on Hwy 129. Residents on Cornersville's Main Street seem resigned to vehicles exceeding the speed limits through town unless they are under observation by a police officer.
In the fall, Cornersville should know if it has been awarded a Community Development Block Grant to purchase a new fire engine and equipment. If it is approved, the board voted to take $27,300 from the general fund for the town's share of the purchase price.
