The Cornersville Bulldogs had an easy time in Saturday night's regular season finale, slamming the hapless Hawks 81-25.
Hampshire, 0-20 on the season could not match up with the more athletic and experienced Dawgs, who ran up and down the court, scoring almost at will.
In a classy move, the Bulldogs' Tyler Cole let the Hawks grab the opening tip to give senior Billy Swhind the opportunity to score the first bucket in the Senior Night game for Hampshire.
With score tied a four apiece, Chuck Bassham and Steven Nelms hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions, starting a 16-0 run for Cornersville that was capped off on a Joseph Darnell bucket.
The Bulldogs would take a 24-8 lead into the second quarter and kept running and scoring, building a 26-point lead on another Bassham three-bomb with four minutes left in the half. Garrett Stiles' three-pointer at the halftime buzzer was the final blow as the Bulldogs led, 46-16, at the half.
Tyler Cole made it 51-16 on three from the top of the key. By the time Nelms hit another long bomb to make it 66-19, coach Micah Landers, filling in for the ill Adrian Wilson, went to the bench and they played half of the third quarter and the entire fourth period.
Stiles led the Dawgs with 16 points, Nelms had 13, Bassham had 12 points on all three-pointers, Darnell found double digits with 10, Tyler Cole had nine, Jimmy Civils had seven, and Flint Davis and Brent Pope each had two.
