Cook wins MCEA Bee
The Marshall County Education Association Spelling Bee was held Monday, Feb. 11, with more than 50 of the county's best spellers taking the stage, each vying for top honors.
During the evening the young men and women were faced with words that even adults have trouble spelling, such as pumpernickel, obsequious, bureaucracy and ceremoniously.
By the end of the evening, Lewisburg Middle School 7th grader Rachel Cook was declared the winner. Coming in a close second was Dayrin Jones (8th grade), followed by third-place finisher Renee Shelton (7th grade). Each of the top three winners is a student at LMS.
