Mr. Henry Edward Sanders, 86, of Bell Buckle, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Sanders was a native of Bedford County. He served in the Army during World War II and saw action in Normandy and Central Europe. He retired as yard foreman for Shelbyville Lumber and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Benton Sanders, Sr. and Jimmie Evalaura Phelps Sanders; first wife, Sara Margaret Bradford Sanders; brothers, Melvin Lewis Sanders and Thomas Benton Sanders, Jr.; and sister, Alice Ruth Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Sanders of Bell Buckle; children, Judy Carolyn Pruitt of Bell Buckle and Eddie Wayne Sanders of Shelbyville; stepsons, Danny Holder of Shelbyville and Travis Holder of Lewisburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Doak-Howell Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 21, with Bros. Charlie Brown, Charles Saunders and Jerry Bradford officiating, followed by burial with full military honors in Pressgrove Cemetery.
