Mr. Merlie DeFoe, 89, of Lewisburg, formerly of Cornersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at NHC Lewisburg.

Mr. DeFoe was a native of Lawrence County. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lula Walls DeFoe; wife, Edna Earl Stephenson DeFoe; two daughters, Jane Flye and Diana McNeese; and three sons, James Clifton DeFoe, Frank DeFoe, and Paul DeFoe.

He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Tate of Lewisburg; son, Don DeFoe of Cornersville; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cornersville Funeral Home for visitation Friday morning, Feb. 22, until funeral services in the chapel there at 2 p.m. Jimmy Joe Ketchum and Billy Allegood will officiate and burial in Beechwood Cemetery will follow.

Pallbearers are Sonny Flye, James Freeman, Robert Tate, Jr., Chris McNeese, Wayne McNeese, and Percy McNeese.
