Bulldogs burn Richland in late comeback

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

The Cornersville Bulldogs evened their season record at 14 with a hard-fought, come-from-behind 60-58 victory over Richland last week in Culleoka in the consolation game of the District 11A Tournament.

It was a back-and-forth battle the entire game between the two squads, but some fourth-quarter heroics by Chuck Bassham and Jimmy Civils helped the Dawgs defeat the Raiders for the third time this season.

"Nothing ever comes easy for us," said District 11A Coach of the Year Adrian Wilson after the game. "We have made it to 14-14 and every single game this year has been a dogfight."

The prize for the victory was a road trip to face Summertown for a first-round match-up in the Region 6A Tournament on Saturday night. The Eagles defeated Cornersville, 77-57, on opening night of the season and also ended the Dawgs' season last year with a 67-47 win in the quarterfinals of the region tournament at Culleoka.
