Lady Rockets stretch winning streak

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

The Jo Byrns team bus got lost on the way to Chapel Hill Friday night for their Region 5A opening round match-up versus Forrest, leaving the Lady Red Devils to scramble into the gym at the last minute.

Maybe they were just not in a hurry to walk across the bed of hot coals called the Forrest Lady Rockets.

The game was over before it even got started as Forrest dismantled the Lady Red Devils in short order, jumping out to a 19-4 first quarter lead with a smothering defense.

The score ballooned to 42-9 by the half and the Lady Rockets cruised to their sixteenth-straight victory by a score of 61-32.

The starting lineup sat next to head coach Robby Reasonover for the entire second half, resting up for their Monday night tilt versus Van Buren in the quarterfinals. Van Buren defeated East Robertson, the number two seed in Region 10A, 55-42.
