AARP Chapter meets

Friday, February 29, 2008
Marshall County Trustee Marilyn Ervin, right, spoke on property tax relief and the proposed property tax freeze at the February meeting of AARP Chapter No. 5249. The Property Tax Relief law affects persons who earn less than $24,000 a year. If passed, the property tax freeze would cover seniors over age 65 with less than $27,170 in income for the year 2008. Applicants must bring their income tax return to the office each year, or file an affidavit that they are exempt from filling, and show proof of their income. Above, Don Wright, AARP Chapter No. 5249 president, presents a door prize donated by Walgreen Drug Store to Marjorie Nolan.
