The Tigerettes begin their celebration as time runs out in their 49-29 victory over Hickman Co.

Usually the more times you play an opponent during the season the harder it becomes to beat that team.

That has not been the case for the Marshall County Tigerettes against Hickman County. MCHS whipped the Lady Bulldogs, 49-29, in the Region 5-AA championship game at Spring Hill High School to improve their record to 4-0 on the season against their District 10-AA rival.

After building a 23-8 halftime advantage, Marshall County pushed their lead to 26 points midway through the fourth quarter before coasting to the 20-point win. With their triumph Wednesday, the Tigerettes (28-4) have beaten Hickman County (12-20) by at least 18 points in all four of their meetings and claimed their first Region title in eight years.

Marshall County will now host Bolivar Saturday night in the Sectional round with a bid to the State Tournament riding on the line.

According to MCHS head coach David Steely, the blueprint for the Tigerettes' success against the Lady Bulldogs was devised at halftime of the first meeting between the two teams.
