Lady Rockets claim third straight Region 5A title

Dakota Wesson drains a huge three-pointer to start the pivotal 10-1 third quarter run.

If the third time is a charm, the fourth must be the lucky clover for the Lady Rockets who made it three in a row for region titles and their fourth victory this season over Middle Tennessee Christian School.

With their nineteenth straight win, Forrest won the Region 5A championship game at Hillwood High School in Nashville 51-42 to secure the home court advantage and a Saturday night sectional match-up versus Santa Fe in a win and in the state tournament situation.

When you have played in as many big games as the Lady Rockets have in the past four years you find a way to win when other teams would fold. Titles are not earned by looks alone; they are won with grit, determination, staying focused under pressure, and by the totality and trust that is teamwork.

"Our girls are very seasoned, they have been in the tough battles, and they got it done tonight", said FHS head coach Robby Reasonover. "Beth Hawn and Megan Porter stepped up tonight and that is what a team is all about."

Ayla Young, who was mired in foul trouble most of the night, also gave credit to her teammates when she said, "We always have somebody to cover our backs and fill our spot."
