The Tigerette express continued to roll along Saturday night, March 1, as Marshall County defeated the Bolivar Lady Tigers, 62-41, in the Sectional round at Dottie Kelso Gymnasium to advance to the Class AA State Tournament for the second straight year.
Bolivar (21-11) appeared as though they might give the Tigerettes (29-4) a battle early on and trailed by just four points midway through the second quarter. Marshall County, though, controlled things from that point forward and stretched their lead to 32-22 by halftime before opening up a 25-point cushion midway through the fourth period en route to the 21-point victory.
With the Tigerettes' ultimate goal now in sight, MCHS head coach David Steely was happy about his victory, but also focused on the work that still lay ahead. "Back-to-back is what we've been preaching all year. You can't win the State Tournament unless you make the State Tournament," said Steely. "We're going to be fired up and we're going to be ready. These girls are going up there to win."
