The Forrest Lady Rockets lost 59-50 to the Wayne County Lady Wildcats Wednesday at the TSSAA Farm Bureau Insurance Basketball Championships, but what they leave behind is a legacy that will last forever.

The Chapel Hill hardwood heroines compiled a four year record of 106-29, dominating District 9A, devastating Region 5A,and magically winning the 2005-2006 state championship.

Besides the three consecutive trips to the state tourney and all the schhool records they set,the Lady Rockets reached in and gabbed the hearts of basketball fans in Marshall County and the mid-state.

They went everywhere to play all comers, being inviting for a home and home series by the legendary coach of Clarkrange, Lamar Rodgers. According to FHS head coach Robby Reasonover, Rodgers called him the day after the Lady Rockets won in 2006 for the invite.

Not an easy team to play, not an easy gym to win in, and not for the faint of heart, but the Lady Rockets happily took on the task.

Who wants to go to Wayne County and play the Lady Wildcats and the Collinwood Trojanettes in their backyard; the Lady Rockets did and split the games this year.

Invite Richland to play when they were ranked in the top five in the state, the Lady Rockets did for their first annual Thanksgiving Classic.

Warriors they were, winning in every imaginable way. Ladies always, classy and spirited.

Thank you ladies for giving all of us something very special, something we will never, ever forget!
