The tournament has become a springtime must-play date for local and regional golfers. Thursday, May 15, at Lewisburg's Saddle Creek Golf Club is the time and place for this year's event.
The Golf Classic is the largest one-day fund-raising event in the county, and has raised more than $500,000 for the Child Development Center in the last nine years.
"The community has taken care of us and every year they support us tremendously. We are so fortunate to have a community of corporations and businesses that are so generous with their time and funds. It takes both to put on an event this large," said Barbara Boyette.
Boyette retired as director of the CDC a couple years ago, but was called back to work as "golf consultant."
