Mr. Alvis "Billy" Simmons, 83, of Lewisburg, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at NHC Merihil.

Mr. Simmons was a native of Marshall County. He was a disabled veteran of the Army and the National Guard. Mr. Simmons retired from Heil Quaker Corporation after 42 years and also worked at the Wal-Mart Garden Center for 14 years. He was a member of the Westvue Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Clemy Toseland Simmons, and a daughter, Patsy Ann Simmons.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Jett Simmons; daughter, Pam (Andy) Chunn of Pulaski; sons Mike (Velvet) Simmons and Terry Simmons, both of Lewisburg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, March 13, at Berea Cemetery, with Elder Ed Campbell officiating.
