Woman charged with fraud
NASHVILLE -- A Marshall County woman has been charged with using the medical benefits of a TennCare services recipient to get healthcare treatment, state officials report.
Holli L. Mitchell, 29, of Lewisburg was arrested by the Maury County Sheriff's Department as a result of her indictment by a grand jury's report this month in Columbia, according to the state's Office of Inspector General.
The indictment accuses Mitchell of TennCare fraud, identity theft and theft of services valued at more than $10,000.
Mitchell allegedly used the identity of a TennCare enrollee to pay for the birth of her child at Maury Regional Hospital, Lola Potter, a state spokeswoman, reported on Tuesday.
After giving birth at age 26, Mitchell left the state to live in Indiana, Potter reported. With the assistance of the Elwood, Ind., Police Department, investigators with the Inspector General's Office were able to locate Mitchell and transport her back to Tennessee. She was being held in the Maury County Jail on Tuesday.
