Robert Luna

Mr. Robert "Bobby" Luna, 74, of Franklin, died Friday, March 14, 2008.

Mr. Luna was a national high school All-American football player while he was at Hunstville High School and went on to play at the University of Alabama and in the NFL. He was assistant coach at UA under Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, an Army veteran, and a longtime owner and operator of Luna Construction LLC. Mr. Luna was inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame and in 2006 he received the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Saddle Creek Men's Golf Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. D. and Ruby Hill Luna.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Luna of College Grove; sons, Jay (Jill) Luna and Drew (Tina) Luna, all of Franklin; sister, June (Donald) Campbell of Mt. Juliet; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 16, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, with Myron Keith and Danny Cottrell officiating, followed by burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Don Brown, Brent Sanders, Bobby Beech, Roy Lambert, Knox Blackburn, Robert "Bud" Moore, Tommy Jones, and Bill Blackburn.

Honorary pallbearers were Luna Construction Company employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.
