Since moving to Chapel Hill in June of 2007, we continue to find reasons why we are blessed to have found and moved to such a wonderful community. Tuesday was no exception. Our 9-year-old son, Hunt-er Oakes, became "missing" between the bus stop and our home. The following two hours was an experience that no parent should ever have to endure. Hunter, a well-behaved and respectful little man, took a detour from home to a local creek. There he became lost. From the moment the word went out of his missing, the community came to our aid. Law enforcement, his principal Mr. Delk, his bus driver, neighbors (some of whom we hardly knew if at all) blanketed the area in a door-to-door, woods-to-woods search. By the time Hunter was found, we were overwhelmed by the number of people whom came to our aid.
We, the parents of Hunter and his sister, wish to express our deep appreciation to all the volunteers whom dropped everything to come to our aid. We also thank God for our son's return and his leading us to Chapel Hill.
Thoughts, prayers and deep gratitude to Chapel Hill, Tina, Brian, Sierra and Hunter Oakes.
