Cornersville School principal Bob Edens congratulates Ryan Montgomery on receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award

Ryan Patrick Montgomery, 17, of Lewisburg has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with a President's Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. Ryan participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of Cornersville High School in Cornersville, where he is a student.

Ryan earned his award by volunteering with the Silver Street Youth Enrichment Program during the past two summers, donating his time with the Marshall County Community Theatre, and working as the student technology support volunteer at Cornersville High School.
