Dorris Cooper Harris
Mrs. Dorris "Kathryn" Cooper Harris, 85, of Chapel Hill, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Harris was a native of Davidson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Harris was very active in the church choir and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Lucy Forsythe Cooper; husband, Forrest "Buster" Harris; and son, Stephen Harris.
She is survived by her daughter, Katie Harris of Chapel Hill; two sons, Ray (Linda) Harris of Harrison, Ga. and Stanley (Debbie) Harris of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Betty Hardison of Lewisburg and Imogene Shea of Nashville; three brothers, George Cooper of Fair Oaks, Calif., Ken Cooper of Swansboro, N.C., and Carl Cooper of Chapel Hill; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 22, at the United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill, with Rev. Mark Youngman officiating, followed by burial in Swanson Cemetery, Chapel Hill.
Family members served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the church choir and the Methodist Women.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
Lawrence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
