A big loser

Fred Haley prefers to dance off his weight at the Briarpatch on a regular basis.

For more than a year now, Cornersville resident Fred Haley has been striving to become a big loser. Now, he's finally being recognized for his efforts.

The Lewisburg Weight Watchers meeting presented a certificate to Haley in appreciation of the huge milestone that he reached. He has now lost 100 pounds and has only 40 more to go to reach his lifetime goal.

Fred Haley is the chief of the South Marshall Fire Department and owns Marshall County Internet Service. He is retired from the Tennessee Forestry Department with 30 years of service.

Haley says there is no mystery surrounding his missing pounds. He just followed the Weight Watchers program and started exercising. "This is the program: pretty much eat what you want to eat," enthuses Haley.

A typical breakfast for him would be two eggs any way he wants them with bacon, wheat toast, and coffee.
