Rockets squander two-goal lead, fall to Page, 3-2

The Forrest Rockets and the Page Patriots squared off in a battle for first place in District 11 A/AA Tuesday night in Chapel Hill and for 55 minutes it looked like a certainty that Forrest would prevail, leading 2-0.

But it ain't over till it's over. Page came back to tie the game with 3:26 left and got the game winner at 1:19 to complete the wild comeback.

The first half of the match was full of end-to-end action, great defense, and some hot goaltending by Forrest's Devin O'Brien, who made save after save to fend off the Patriots.

Page had the first chance to score just one minute in, when a shot ricocheted off the Rocket crossbar.

Forrest had two big runs on the offensive end at the 18- and 20-minute marks of the first half, but failed to capitalize. Kyle Anglin just missed wide left on a run up the left sidelines. Two minutes later, the Rockets had a great scoring opportunity when Page goalie Steven Brown fumbled the ball right in front of the net with two Forrest strikers lurking. Neither player could get a good foot on the ball and Brown recovered and re-captured the sphere.
