"When we hit the ball, we hit it right at people and we seemed to play with the mentality that we weren't facing someone as good as us," said Cornersville head coach Spencer Mitchell. "Usually when we hit the ball hard it falls in for a hit and our base runners got used to just taking off."
Third baseman Lori Beth Adams led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and 2 RBIs. Shortstop Tori Wolaver, starting pitcher Summer Cole, catcher Amanda Griggs, and second baseman Erica Blackwell each had a hit for Cornersville as well.
Cole suffered the loss in the circle for CHS, allowing five runs on three hits and five walks over 4 1/3 innings to go along with six strikeouts. Savannah Cole came on in relief and registered three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of work while yielding one run on two hits.
