Former Genesco employees to hold reunion

es are expecting to have a good time when they meet tomorrow at the Recreation Center for their 20th reunion.

The Genesco plant was active in Lewisburg from 1927 until it closed in 1985. There were nearly 500 employees and they made a million pairs of men's shoes per year, or one tractor-trailer load per day.

The whole process of shoemaking, starting with big pieces of leather and ending with a pair of shoes in a box, took place in the factory.
