WMI invests in sweeper to keep trash levels down

Waste Management bought this Tennant Street Sweeper last year. It was delivered in late January and it's tending the Cedar Ridge Landfill driveway and two miles of Mooresville highway.

A $120,000 street sweeper purchased by Waste Management Inc. to maintain Mooresville Highway and the company's landfill at Cedar Ridge would be used at Cornersville if county commissioners authorize development of a replacement landfill.

"In 2007, Waste Management made a significant investment in a cleaner community by purchasing a Tennant Street Sweeper, which was delivered in late January of this year," Terri Douglas, spokeswoman for the landfill company, reported. "The unit allows us to sweep and vacuum at the same time.

"It also has a filter system for dust control and a sweeper for curbs," Douglas said. "Our employees have been trained to operate the sweeper, and we've been using it since February at the landfill entrance and along nearby portions of Mooresville Highway."
