Tigers rally past Rockets

Miracle victory or excruciating defeat. That depended on which team one's allegiance belonged to when the Marshall County Tigers defeated the Forrest Rockets 10-9 at home Thursday after rallying from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Having defeated Forrest, 11-0, in their previous encounter on March 27, the Tigers trailed 9-7 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. They cut the deficit to 9-8 on a sacrifice fly by second baseman Kenston Ezell prior to loading the bases with two outs.

The Rockets then literally let victory slip through their fingers. Marshall County tied the game when Forrest starting pitcher Cody Richardson dropped an infield popup by the Tigers' Colton Primm before MCHS' Shaun Harwell scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

"We didn't play smart today, that's for sure," said Marshall County head coach Joe George. "We probably didn't deserve to win, but we pulled it out in the end."
