Robinson sworn in as city councilman

Lewisburg Councilman Ronald Robinson is sworn in by City Treasurer Connie Edde.

Lewisburg's newest councilman was sworn in Tuesday morning by the city treasurer moments after Mayor Bob Phillips recalled that he and the new councilman had been county commissioners together years ago.

"So the workings of local government shouldn't be entirely new to him," Councilman Robin Minor concluded about his new colleague, Councilman Ronald Robins. "I'm glad he's joining us on the council. I look forward to working with him."

Robinson's remarks substantiated the points.

"I know I have one of five votes and that it's impossible to please everyone, but I'll be honest in what I do and listen to people's concerns," he said. "The 3rd Ward will be my main concern, but I'll listen to all the people of the city."

Robinson succeeds Elvin White, who resigned March 3. The City Council appointed Robinson on April 15. White left office nearly 14 months before the next election in May 2009. Robinson has indicated that he would run for election.
