It could not have been sweeter.

The Forrest Lady Rockets claimed another District 9A title Tuesday, hammering arch rival Cascade in Wartrace, 14-0. Forrest went downtown, via the long ball, banging out 14 hits, including out of the park home runs by Amanda Daughrity and Heather James.

Haley Mathis provided the large traveling crowd from Chapel Hill some extra added excitement with an electrifying inside the park homer in the fourth inning.

Shelby Stinnett has not allowed a run versus Cascade in two years.

Sophomore Shelby Stinnett continued her mastery over the Lady Champions, pitching a one-hitter to complete a two-year stretch of not allowing a run to Cascade. The victory was also the 20th in row over the orange-black.

Ranked sixth in the latest Tennessean Mid-State Softball Poll, Forrest finished the regular season undefeated in district play at 12-0, 26-6 overall, and earned a bye in the first round of the District 9A Tournament, beginning Saturday in Chapel Hill.
