Lady Bulldogs claim title

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs clinched their second straight District 11-A regular season title Tuesday night, defeating second-place Columbia Academy, 4-1, at home behind a stellar performance from senior starting pitcher Chrissy Worth.

Having defeated CA, 4-2, eight days earlier, the Lady Bulldogs (19-8, 11-1 District) trailed, 1-0, through the first two innings of play. They pushed across four runs over the next three frames to seize a 4-1 lead en route to their seventh consecutive District win.

After tearing her ACL only seven months earlier during CHS' soccer season, Worth continued her amazing comeback from major knee surgery by stifling CA's usually potent offensive attack.

Worth yielded just one unearned run on four hits and two walks in seven innings of work while racking up 12 strikeouts to earn her fourth victory of the season.
