Cornersville's Chuck Bassham went 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI, and three runs scored to lead an 13-hit attack by the Bulldogs against Moore County.
The Cornersville Bulldogs opened the District 11-A tournament in impressive fashion Tuesday, trouncing the Moore County Raiders, 18-0, in five innings at Columbia Academy.

Although the Bulldogs had swept the season series against Moore County, Cornersville head coach Brent Adcox was pleased with how easily his team handled the Raiders. "This was huge. You can't overlook anybody. Moore County played us tough at the beginning of the year, but we came out ready to play. We wanted to come out and set the tempo for the rest of the tournament," said Adcox.

CHS starting hurler Tyler Cole pitched three strong innings to earn the victory, registering seven strikeouts while allowing just one hit and two walks. Freshman Lucas Laster then came on in relief in the fourth and yielded one hit and one walk in two scoreless innings of work. Laster and catcher Mark Lane also picked off a couple of Moore County runners on the base paths to help ensure the shutout of the Raiders.
