The road goes on for Tiger tennis team
The Marshall County High School tennis team went to the District 11A/AA Tournament in Murfreesboro last Wednesday and Thursday with high hopes. Those hopes were upheld as the girls team won the district, Rachel Wolfe claimed the district singles' title, and Jenna Branaman and Lyssa Wiles continued their quest for a return trip to the Spring Fling and another state doubles title for the school.
The girls team will be playing on May 8th at Columbia Academy in the Region Team Tournament.
Connor Kennedy, undefeated going into the tourney, suffered a 6-3, 7-5 loss to K.C. Cope, but finished second, earning a trip to the Region singles tournament, Monday at Columbia Academy.
Rachel Wolfe won her first scholastic district singles title, defeating Page's Katie Hinton 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Wiles/Branaman defeated long-time rivals Anna Hinton and Sara Hinton in a tough 7-6, 11-9, 5-7, 6-4 match.
Wolfe, Branaman, Wiles, Kelsi Richardson, Allison Adcock, Allyson Van Hooser, Drew Killian, Kennedy, Josh Lewis and Drew Huitt all made the District 11A/AA Tournament squad.
