Smith facing ethics charges

The organization formed to oppose development of a landfill at Cornersville has asked the Marshall County Ethics Committee to investigate a former county commissioner and his Realtor because the group's leaders suspect "improper, unethical and/or criminal actions" regarding a land purchase option.

Kathy Fox, president of the Tri-County Environmental Associ-ation, names former commissioner Sam Smith, who also served on the Marshall County Board of Public Utilities with Mike Waggoner, Smith's real estate agent, who is also named by Fox in the letters asking for investigations into the conduct of Smith and Waggoner.
