Bryan College head coach Jamy Bechler is excited about Barnett's athletic ability and believes she has the potential to be a stopper on the defensive end. "She's a good athlete and tough. I think she'll be someone that can defend and lock down another team's guards. She has the ability to run the floor, score in transition, and play full court defense."
A two-year starter for Cornersville, Barnett had a breakout season as a senior and helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a third place finish in District 11-A. Barnett was Cornersville's second leading scorer during the 2007-08 campaign with 14 points per game, while also averaging five rebounds, two assists, and one steal per contest. As a result, Barnett was named to the All-District Regular Season Team and earned a spot on the All-District Tournament Team.
During her junior year, Barnett averaged six points and four rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs and made the All-District Tournament Team.
As a sophomore, Barnett was a key reserve on a senior-laden Cornersville team that claimed the District 11-A tournament championship and reached the semifinals of the Region 6-A tourney.
Along with Bryan College, Barnett received interest from the University of the South, Rhodes College, Maryville College, Hiwassee Junior College, and Volunteer State Community College.
