David Steely, head coach of the 2007-2008 Class AA state champion Marshall County High School Tigerettes basketball team, resigned from his post early Thursday morning.

Steely compiled a record of 160-105 in his nine years at the position, guiding the team back to the pinnacle of the high school basketball, finishing runner-up in 2007 before capturing the title this past season.

The Tigerettes ended the incredible year with a 32-4 record, running off a fourteen game winning streak to end the season, capturing the school's fourth state title with a 44-35 win over Milan on March 8.

Steely becomes the second high profile girl's basketball coach in Marshall County to resign this season, following Robby Reasonover, who left his post at Forrest for similar reasons after the Lady Rockets were eliminated from the state tournament in April.
