Hydrants being flushed

Monday, May 19, 2008

The Lewisburg Water and Wastewater Department has begun its annual fire hydrant flushing program. The purpose is to exercise the fire hydrants to determine if they will provide adequate fire protection.

Also, Lewisburg Water and Wastewater is required to flush the lines in order to remove any sediment that may have accumulated during the previous year.

Should you discover that your water is discolored or dingy, please let it run until it becomes clear before washing white clothes. If the water looks milky, it has air bubbles in it that will disappear promptly.

We will perform the flushing earlier than usual and more quickly prior to high summer use. We encourage customers with a swimming pool to fill earlier than usual in case we have another hot and dry year.

We appreciate your cooperation in these matters. If you have any questions, please call the office at 931-359-6831.
