Housing bids invited

Marshall County has been awarded a grant by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency for the purpose of renovating and constructing houses. Don Nelson, the zoning administrator, said, "We'd like to see the money stay local. We'd like to get local builders involved. Last time we got this grant local builders were not aware of it."

Nelson explained that eight to 10 houses will probably be replaced, and that contractors who wished to receive a bid package should contact him at 359-8839 or Joe Evans at 931-381-2040.

Contractors bidding on contracts of $25,000 or more must have a state general contractors license. For contracts under that amount a license is not required. All bidders must carry $100,000 of liability insurance.

Marshall County encourages all contractors, including minority- or female-owned businesses to apply.
