Will Chapman Brown of Belfast, a mathematics and physics major, has received a bachelor of arts degree from Vanderbilt University. Brown graduated summa cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Pi Sigma.

India Humphrey of Lewisburg, a learning and education major, has received a master of arts degree from Lipscomb University.

Veronica Schultz of Cornersville has received a $1,000 scholarship from the Gleaner Life Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation. Schultz will be a freshman at University of Tennessee at Knoxville this fall and plans to major in veterinary medicine.

The Marshall County Ethics Committee meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, has been postponed until June 19.

The Liggett Street Church of God will welcome Elder Ashley Cox and the congregation of St. Mark's AME Church, Cornersville, for a collaborative church service, starting with Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25, followed by worship at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served after the service.

26 In honor of Memorial Day, Lewisburg American Legion Post 39 will have a program at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, on the Courthouse lawn. Mr. Ted Duning will be the guest speaker. Special music will be presented by Bobby Jeter and his daughters Rachel and Hannah. Wreaths will be placed at the various war monuments. Taps will be played at the conclusion of the program. The VFW extends an invitation to everyone to have lunch at the VFW building immediately following the program. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the Marshall County Community Theater.

Lewisburg American Legion Post 39 and the American Legion Auxiliary will have a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m Monday, May 26, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Life Center. Mr. Ray Farley will be the guest speaker. Mr. Terry Jackson will provide a special musical program.

The Town of Petersburg will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, in the Town Hall, to consider a request for re-zoning. The regular meeting of the Town of Petersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen will immediately follow the public hearing.
