Moms on a mission

Chief Warrant Officer Eric Maricelli presents an American flag that was flown at the Al Asad Air Base, Al-Anbar Province, Iraq, to Barb Blackmore of Marshall County Moms on a Mission. The certificate that accompanied the flag reads "In recognition and gratitude from the Marines of Marine Wing Support Squadron 473 Airfield Operations Company for your support and contributions to our welfare and morale during combat operations. Your patriotism, love and support have made a true difference in the lives of those serving in our nation's military. Thank you all."

Moms on a Mission works to involve the community in showing support to hometown military people. The group invites schoolchildren to make cards, write letters and make ornaments. They ask local groups and churches to write cards and letters a few times a year to deployed and non-deployed troops. The group ensures that the military people they help know that it is through the generosity of the people of Marshall County that they are able to send the care packages and the Christmas trees.
